Commercial growers in India use polyhouse for the production of cut flowers, vegetables, and fruits. Fruits and vegetables together contribute about 92% of the total horticultural production in the country. To protect crops from external factors which can damage them substantially, they are grown in polyhouse.
Based on the suitability and cost of construction, polyhouses can be further divided into three types. This is a simple low cost polyhouse structure which is constructed using locally available materials such as bamboo, timber etc. A protective covering of ultra violet (UV) film is used as a cladding material.
